It’s been a long time since we last visited this place. We true forgot how pretty it was, the house faces a beautiful garden and just behind the garden is a pasture for cattle. We sat at the bottom of the garden and enjoyed our picnic over looking such beautiful scenery
We roamed around the house and it was a modern, cosy home as demonstrated below.

About the property: Standen was owned by the Beales, James and Margaret who also owned Beales & co making their money in the railway business. In 1891 they asked Philip Webb to design their country home, the grounds was made up of three farms, Stone, Hollybush and Standen. Webb wanted to include the characteristics of the surroundings, historical building and landscape but in the end the home was built with modern influences. With Margaret’s interest in plants she had great say in the garden .
