A very popular restaurant in London where the queues are long. I was very happy when my friend managed get a booking lunch. When we arrived just before 12:00 there was a fair number of people waiting outside. My sister took charge and walked straight past and getting a quite a surprised look from some people.
Dishoom Calamari · Fried calamari in a crispy coating and tossed in dome spices. Flavourful making it quite a nice sharing dish
Vegetarian Samosa · Small crispy triangle starters, filled with tiny cubes of potato, peas and spices. This is also a nice dish to share with it’s mild spices.
Dishoom Chicken Tikka · This is a family recipe, instead of yogurt they use a marinade of sweet vinegar with ginger juice, turmeric, garlic and green chill. The chicken was tender and juicy, quite surprising as it looked very char grilled
Garlic Naan · There was garlic and coriander, when it was brought to the table it smelt very fragrant. However, it didn’t taste as garlicky as I had hoped.
I tried my friends dishes but my favourite had to be the Prawn Moilee. The prawns were served in a golden broth of onions, mustard seeds, garlic, ginger and chilli and coconut milk which was served with traditional steamed idiyappa. This was a wonderful hearty, rich dish.
