Balthazar

My friend came from a far away place and we couldn’t wait to meet and catch up and us girls decided to go to Balthazar for a lovely dinner. To start I had the Garlic Prawns with piment d’Espelette and warm potato bread. This dish was exceptional, we loved that the prawns were juicy and tender.  The sauce was full of flavour, it was rich with butter and creamy sauce, with the mild kick.  We were so glad it came with bread so we could lap up the sauce.

For may main I had the Duck Confit with butter beans, dandelion greens, mange tout and sugar snaps with a Sherry dressing. I was a little disappointed because to me it felt a little like summer meets winter. The duck was well done but still tender the dressing was hot so it has wilted my salad also I found the sauce was a little salty for my liking.  However my friends welcome the dish so I guess it is down to personal preference.

To finish I had the Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce Fratello Hazelnut Liqueur.  It was a very nice finish, the ice cream was cold and refreshing, a nice light way to finish my meal.

The staff was attentive and fully aware of our needs. I was very impressed
