Alki’s Kebab House

My sister recommended this little gem, and she heard it by word of mouth so we thought it will be pretty good to try it out. To be honest my expectations were low before we went, so I was pleasantly surprised to find an extremely fresh and well decorated place. It was very spacious and comfortable, there was even wheel chair/pram access.

We ordered the Alki’s special grill for six people and it came with , lamb ribs, chicken wings, chicken shish, lamb shish, kofte chicken kofte, chicken doner and doner with salad and 6 meze.

The bread was freshly made, very well seasoned, toasty and warm.  We were cold and hungry so it was a very good start.  Along came the salad and the six meze shortly after, there was a very nice selection.

It took slightly longer than expected for the meat to arrive but but the portion was very impressive, underneath the meat was bread, rice and barley soaking up the juices from the meat.  I really enjoyed most of the mixed meats, I only found that the doner was a little too salty for my liking.

I had the opportunity to tried the Turkish tea and coffee, the coffee was served black and was very smooth and not bitter at all.  I came to realise a little later on how strong it was.  I really liked the tea after my meat, we were also served sweets which had pistachio but I found it a little too sweet for my liking
